Whilst your dog is with us he is our number one priority.  We pride ourselves in making his stay with us as stress free as possible and one that we hope they will find fun.  For your dog’s first groom with us, we ask you to arrive about 15 minutes prior to your appointment time to complete a record card whilst your dog enjoys investigating our secure garden. We have a unique grooming environment at Prince Pooch with a calm and relaxed atmosphere in the Hampshire countryside. We never rush dogs through the grooming process. We give them time to get settled in before starting the groom. We will never push them to do anything they don’t want to do and if we see that they are showing any signs of stress, we will stop what we are doing and allow them more time to relax and have fun.

Typically we do not put our visitors into holding pens, but have veterinary-grade crates available if your dog prefers a bit of peace and quiet or in the case where we deem it safer for our guests to be more securely held.

Before bathing, we will comb through the coat to remove any small matts and tangles  – water will not penetrate dense matts so those bits stay dirty if we don’t do this first.

All shampoos we use are some of the most natural, high-quality products available on the market today.  Currently we use products made by Wildwash, Groomers and Mutney’s. All companies we use supply high quality products using natural ingredients.  The shampoo we use on your dog will be matched with your dog’s coat and skin.

As we groom on a one-to-one basis, we do not use a cage drier. We have the best quality equipment, which is routinely checked for safety and signs of wear or damage. We hand-dry, being mindful of the welfare of the dog and use ‘Happy Hoodies’ to dull the sound of the dryer for those dogs who are particularly sensitive to noise.

The drying process will be according to the coat type and preparation for styling.
